Explanation
When an Italian seller states a tax registration number other than its VAT ID, such as the codice fiscale, it must be 11 to 16 characters long and contain only capital letters and digits, no spaces or other characters.
How to fix
Ask the seller for a corrected invoice with its codice fiscale or partita IVA without spaces or other characters.
This field is required by §14 Abs. 4 Nr. 2 UStG. A missing or incorrect value may affect input VAT deduction (Vorsteuerabzug) for the recipient.
