Validation message

For Norwegian suppliers, a VAT number MUST be the country code prefix NO followed by a valid Norwegian organization number (nine numbers) followed by the letters MVA.

Explanation

When a Norwegian seller's VAT ID starts with NO, it must consist of NO, the 9-digit organisation number and the letters MVA, without spaces, e.g. NO123456785MVA. The organisation number must have a valid check digit.

How to fix

Ask the seller for a corrected invoice that states its VAT ID as NO, organisation number, MVA.

This field is required by §14 Abs. 4 Nr. 2 UStG. A missing or incorrect value may affect input VAT deduction (Vorsteuerabzug) for the recipient.
